The saying "Nothing ventured, nothing gained" means that if you do not try new things, you will not succeed or get anything important. It encourages people to be brave and to take risks, even if it is scary. Sometimes, people are afraid of failing or being rejected. But if you do not try, you cannot improve or reach your dreams.
This saying has been used in English for a long time, since the 1500 s. It shows that being brave can bring good results. People believe that luck favors those who try. Success often comes to those who are willing to take a chance.
Here are two easy examples:
A young woman wants a new job. She feels nervous because she doubts her skills. But she decides to try anyway. She applies for the job and goes to the interview. She gets the job and starts a new career. Her choice to take a chance helped her to succeed.
Another example is a man who thinks about investing his money in a new business. He is unsure if it will work. After thinking, he decides to try. Over time, his business becomes successful and he earns a profit. If he had not taken the risk, he would not have had this opportunity.
These stories show that taking risks can bring rewards. The saying reminds us not to be afraid of trying, because success can come from effort and courage.
