Nothing ventured, nothing gained

The saying "Nothing ventured, nothing gained" means that if you do not take risks, you cannot expect to succeed or get something valuable. It encourages people to be brave and willing to try new things, even if there is a chance of failure.
This idea comes from the belief that to succeed in life — whether in work, relationships, or personal growth — you need to be prepared to face some risks. Sometimes people are afraid of failing or being rejected, so they hesitate. But without trying, it is impossible to make progress.
The origin of this phrase is not certain, but it has been used in English since at least the 1500 s. It shows the common thought that luck favors those who are brave and that effort and courage often lead to success.
For example, imagine a young woman who wants to apply for a new job. She feels nervous because she doubts her skills. Still, she chooses to try and send her application. She attends the interview and eventually gets the job, starting a new chapter in her life. Her decision to take a chance brought her positive results.
Another example is a man who considers investing his savings in a business idea. He is unsure it will work. After some thought, he decides to go ahead. Later, his business grows, and he makes a good profit. If he had not taken the risk, he might have missed this opportunity.
These examples show that taking risks can bring rewards. The saying reminds us that avoiding chances might stop us from reaching our goals or experiencing success.
